Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

Susie here today sharing a Christmas layout I created using two of the wonderful laser cut overlays available from Want2Scrap!

I absolutely love to decorate for Christmas and one of the first things that came out of the boxes this past year was our collection of nutcrackers! I realized I needed to scrapbook them and of course I found the perfect starting point with Want2Scrap overlays.  This is how the overlays looked when I started:

Let me tell you that the red paper is the same on each overlay although the photography makes them look like different colors.  Sorry about that!  :)  You can see that each of the overlays come with  a white paper background that provides a photo mat inside of each of the openings - such a nice detail!

Don't feel like you need to fill each opening with a picture - although I did do that for the photo on the right!  I use the openings to group pictures and related embellishments and I like to include a lot of pictures on my layouts! I used patterned paper to create a background for my mini collages in two of the openings.  I chose the Holiday Cheer Collection from Photo Play Paper because it had a nutcracker theme!

This overlay actually has a laser cut Santa's hat and sparkles which would make it perfect for "Visit with Santa" pictures.  My theme for this page was different so I created an embellishment cluster to cover up that area.

The built in laser cut title is my favorite part of any overlay because it just makes my life easier!  The paper pack I was working with had a color pallette that included both white and tan.  I chose one of the papers with a tan pattern and used it to back most of the title area. I left the area behind the word "Christmas" white so that it would really stand out and  I added a dimensional wooden exclamation point!

Next I used the "Christmas Tree Second Page" overlay. I want to point out that you can flip this page around and orient it any way you want to suit your pictures and embellishments.  I just love having options!

Here is a look at the finished page.  I love treating each opening like a mini scrapbook page!

So time to get out those Christmas pictures and get them into your scrapbook!  Be sure to check out the Want2Scrap Store for our full selection of 12x12 and 6x6 overlays!

Game On! with Pokemon Go!

Pokemon Go is the latest gaming craze and of course Want2Scrap has the perfect overlay to scrapbook those memories: Game On!
Click on any picture to see a larger image.

My favorite part of any Want2Scrap overlay is the title area.  I love the font on this one and didn't feel as though it needed a whole lot of dressing up. The little Pikachu I used to embellish the title area came off of a lanyard I found at WalMart!

This little guy was actually cut out of the lanyard packaging and adhered with foam pop dots.

But what kind of pictures do you use on a layout about a cell phone game?  Screen shots of course!  There are standard graphics and phrases that any Pokemon Trainer sees every day:  The Pokemon broke free?  You walked how far?  You finally have enough candy to evolve that Pokemon!  Congratulations - you levelled up!!

There are real world photo ops, too!  How about this one of my daughter battling into a gym - in the rain!

And of course you can always use the ap take pictures of Pokemon in the real world!

This overlay is very versatile and can be used for pretty much any kind of gaming.  Here is a page where I used the same overlay for one of my great nephews playing with a remote control car.  I spent a little more time altering the title with Want2Scrap Shiny Chrome Drops!  You can find the details for this layout HERE.

Want2Scrap has a wide selection of overlays that make great starting points for layouts.  Be sure to check out both sizes: 12x12 and 6x6.  Happy scrapping!

Softball Overlay from Want2Scrap

Susie here with a fun layout that started with one of the many laser cut Softball themed items available from Want2Scrap!

My husband plays in a softball league with his buddies from work.  Our sons were able to play on the team after high school and I captured these pictures at an evening game. The 12x12 overlay made this layout fast and easy!
I started by removing the white backing paper and replacing it with a green and white patterned paper. I trimmed the outer edge of the overlay a little and centered it on the page. I did need to replace the white paper behind the softball, then I added some photos and embellished with stickers, flair and a Dymo label maker.

I scattered 4 smaller photos underneath the laser cut title.  Don't feel like you need to fill each of the openings with a photo.  You can use them to group pictures and related embellishments.
Remember to check with Want2Scrap for any sports related scrapbooking elements - we have you covered from Archery to Wrestling!  You can find this overlay, along with many other softball themes items, HERE.

Watch the Killer Whales Overlay!

Susie here with a layout about a Killer Whale Watch excursion I enjoyed with my family last year. It features a laser cut overlay from Want2Scrap and one of the Chipboard Quotations!  This outing was one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska and the Whale 12x12 overlay was the perfect start to my scrapbook page!

The Whales Overlay comes with a white background paper.  The first thing I did was to adhere the laser cut outs of the whales to the white paper. Then I took out my craft knife and carefully trimmed around the outside edge of the whales and discarded the rest.

The first photo I added was one of a whale breaching! I used 1/8" "Tear-ific" Tape from Sparkle N Sprinkle on the backside of the frame to adhere the photo in place.
I chose this photo-realistic paper of the ocean to back the overlay.  It came with a double white border printed along the outer edge - such a nice detail!
I decided to accent that detail by trimming down the outside of the overlay so that it fit perfectly inside the border!  (I will admit that I purposely lined up the horizon line of my photo with the horizon in the paper!)

I heat embossed "The Best Day Ever" Chipboard Quotation with Red Glitter Embossing Powder.  It picked up the red from my pictures and really made the perfect title!
I take a lot of pictures so I often create multi photo collages on my layouts. I print my photos with a white border.  If you are unable to do that and want to get the same look, just double mat them with both white and black cardstock. I just play with the placement of the pics until I find an arrangement that works for me!
Suprise!  That center photo flips up to reveal one more picture

Want2Scrap has an amazing assortment of laser cut overlays to help with your scrapbooking.  Check out all of your choices HERE.

Senior Year Overlay

Susie here today and I am sharing a fun layout I created using the Want2Scrap Senior Year Overlay.

The overlay is designed so that there is a collage area all ready for your pictures.

I used the overlay as a guide to cut pictures to the right size and shape:.

I flipped it over and added 1/8" Double Sided "Tear-ific" Tape around the edges...

... and then pulled up the liner and adhered the photo.

I added the photos one at a time.  I had a lot of photos so I was able to completely fill in the collage.  If you don't have enough pics, you can fill in the open segments with coordinating patterned paper.

Then I  adhered the main photo and edged it with Sleek Strip 6" Rhinestones in black.
.
Here's a close up:

Happy Hour Selfies Overlay

People take selfies absolutely everywhere these days and the beauty of this overlay from Want2Scrap is that it is so easy to customize to any theme!  Susie here today and you can see here that with the right embellishments, it was perfect for my pictures from a girl's night out!

I started by trimming the overlay down to an 11.5" square and centering it on a cheerful polka dot background.  I love the laser cut title in this overlay but I felt I had to alter it just a tiny bit to reflect the silliness of our evening. You can see below that I added just a couple of words with my label maker and now it quite properly reads "No Selfie Control" as we amused ourselves by snapping selfies with our drinks!

Each window in the overlay is an opportunity for a little fun!  I used Sleek Strip Irridescent Rhinestones across the top of this opening and then I just started to play with embellishments from my stash.

Here I used the Red Sleek Strip Rhinestones and, when paired with the little arrow stickers,  they really help to move the eye around the layout.

These cocktail stickers were perfect for my theme and helped me use up some of my stash!

The 3 large openings were filled with our selfies and embellished with stickers and chipboard pieces.

So what kind of selfies do you have to scrap?  Pics from the beach?  A birthday party? A sporting event?  Let's get them out of the camera and onto a page!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie

Got My Learner's Permit!

Susie here today with a layout that celebrates the day my daughter got her learner's permit! Teaching my daughter to drive was a little stressful and a lot of fun...or maybe it was a little fun and a lot of stress?!  Either way, I took the time to snap some photos along the way.  I took pictures of everything - from the ticket she pulled at the DMV to the vision test to the moment she finally got behind the wheel!  When I was ready to scrap it I was so excited to find that Want2Scrap had the perfect 12x12 overlay!
I started by trimming the overlay to an 11.75" square and centering it on some green paper/cardstock.

One of my favorite things about using overlays from Want2Scrap is that they come with built in title areas.  The laser cut area for this overlay is in the bottom right corner.  Don't you just love the car key?
Strips of washi tape embellished with more of the Sleek Strip Purple Rhinestones are a simple and pretty accent I used all across the layout.
The overlays come with white backing paper that create a frame inside of each opening.  I actually used the white edge to do some simple journaling.  (She was fearless, but mom was a little nervous!)

Overlays provide a clean background that make it easy to incorporate lots of fun embellishments:  washi tape, stickers and custom labels!  Here are close ups on the last few openings...
