It's the Little Things...

HI everyone!  Isn't it so?  Isn't it many times all about the little things?  Especially when they are soooo cute like Want 2 Scrap bling and ribbon!  Check out how the green pearl bling adds a little something special to the already gorgeous butterfly design of Jen Allyson.

You can also find Want 2 Scrap in the silver bling up in the top left corner and check out the delicate white crochet ribbon included in a mixed bag of ribbon I received.  Just a bit of this ribbon adds such a wonderful texture to this card.
I wanted to make sure this card had a real "fly away" quality to it.  This was easy to accomplish by only adhering the body of the butterfly to the card base and gently curling the tips of the wings with my fingers.

Thanks so much for coming by today.  I can't wait to find more ways to incorporate the fabulous "little things" from Want 2 Scrap!

Happy Mother's Day and one of my favorite layouts ever...

I don't know why some layouts become favorites but I love this one. There is no picture of my boys, or my sweet hubby, or my Bassett Hound Lucy. No adorable nieces or cutie nephews. For some reason I love this one.

I took these photos for my photography class. I was sitting at another soccer practice for my son. It was the day before my class and I had "homework". I needed to take pictures of a non-living stationary object. After looking around this bag was what I had and I shot away. After printing the photos I knew I had to do a layout using them.

My son Nick has loved soccer from the first time he played and it has become such a huge part of our lives. I think I showed that even without a picture of Nick.

I made this layout to highlight some of Want2Scrap's fun goodies. This is the third project I have used these acrylic stars on. This time I layered several different rub-ons on them to "dress them up". I also used Want2Scrap's ribbon and I so love their black pearls! Check out the store here.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all enjoy the upcoming Mother's Day weekend. We will spend it at a soccer tournament and I will be loving it! Hugs

Wedding Wishes with Bling!

Hi everyone! It's getting to be that time again....the weather is warming up, the birds have returned to sing, and the flowers are beginning to bloom. Spring is upon us and in come the weddings!! I was lucky enough to attend one recently and when I saw these little brides and grooms on the seat assignments, I immediately KNEW I had to make something from these! I thought that this gorgeous large heart bling from Want2Scrap was absolutely perfect for my little bride and groom. :)

Isn't that heart just gorgeous?!! And won't they just be tickled that something from their wedding was used to make a card for them?? Ok, the groom may not think it's the coolest thing since sliced bread, but I bet the bride will! Ahhh...love is definitely in the air....and the pollen is too, but that's an entirely different story!

Thanks for visiting!

Fluffy Ribbon Flower tutorial

Hello!  It's Dana here with a quick tutorial on making fluffy ribbon flowers.  I am highlighting the ribbon packs soon to be offered by Want 2 Scrap and more pink pearl bling.  Included in my designer's box of product was a package of various ribbons and trims.  You can see the ruffled ribbon I used on the edge of my card above and also included was the white organza I used to make my flower.  I wanted to mimic the 3-D texture quality of the edge trim so I decided to get fluffy with my flower!

STEP 1:
Knot the end of a coordinating color of sewing thread and weave the thread the length of one side of the ribbon.  The smaller the stitches, the more ruffle you will get in your flower.

STEP 2:
When you reach the end of your length of ribbon ( I used 12 inches), connect the end of the ribbon back to the side where you started by poking your needle and thread through but not tying off in a knot yet.

STEP 3:
Pull thread to tighten up the flower ruffles using your fingers to help distribute the ruffles around the flower.  Knot the thread and secure the two ends of the ribbon tightly together.

Doesn't that add a fun dimensional embellishment to the card?  In order to adhere the flower and the pearl center, I peeled the self adhesive from the back of the pearl and applied fabri-tac liquid adhesive.  I also used this liquid adhesive on the back of the ribbon flower.  A clothespin held the pearl and flower in place until it dried to the cardstock.

Thanks so much for stopping by today here at the Want 2 Scrap blog.  Please let me know if you have any questions on the technique I demonstrated above.  I'm happy to help.
Have a great day!

Organizing is Key

I have been on a huge kick lately to become more organized at home.  It makes it incredibly difficult to do so because I also have a home office.  Well, I found this wonderful download over at the Project Girl blog to help me with my goals. I know it is almost the end of April, but I figure it is NEVER too late to start.  You HAVE to go check it out!  I was able to print out my own pages to help me get organized and it gave me the opportunity to design my own planner cover!  How sweet is that????
weekly-planner
I have this planner sitting on the easel right in the kitchen so I can see it and most importantly USE it.  (cause that’s the hardest part right??)
Here is a close-up of the Want2Scrap pearl bling I used.  These little beauties are so versatile and I love the contrast between the pearl and the dark color of the flowers.

These pearls and bling just give that extra added touch.  I used the bling and cut up the swirls to make an interesting pattern under the flower.
Here is one more shot of the inner pages.  It makes it so fun and easy to keep everything in one place now.

I hope you are inspired to get organized this spring as well.  I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Happy scrapping!

Beach Boys Mini!

I received this totally fun tabbed acrylic mini album from Want2Scrap and knew immediately I wanted to make a beach mini book. I actually turned the album so that the tabs would look like the ocean's surf and waves...it had been a while since I worked on an acrylic mini and I must say it was a ton of fun!

Here is a little close up... after cutting out the wave I rubbed crystal lacquer all over it and then sprinkled just a bit of white glitter on it.

I used Bella Blvd's All Inclusive line for this mini and the blue gems from Want2Scrap work perfectly with it.

My kids favorite part of the beach is playing in the sand and boogie boarding...I made sure I included photos of each in my mini.

I love that we get to play in the surf right next too the dolphins and seagulls. I also added pictures of them in my mini.

Water play is a must and my little nephew Jake LOVED it this year...here he is getting a little help from his dad and Jack on the boogie board. The other picture is Nick getting slammed by a big wave...such fun.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
