Waste not, want not

Hi everyone!  Dana here with a tutorial on custom coloring your acrylic pages and shapes.
For this project, I will be using the cutout from this acrylic album sheet.  This cute little flower is just as sweet as the page it was cut from....can't waste this opportunity to make a cute hang tag!  I also have on hand some alcohol inks from Ranger, a crop-o-dile for punching a hole in the finished tag and not pictured is glitter glue and some crystal effects from Stampin Up! (note, I only ended using the pool and wild plum colors on the project)
Your acrylic sheets are covered with a frosted plastic liner on either side to keep them pristine.  I find the easiest way to peel the liner is by using the piercing tool in my craft supply to gently lift the liner and peel it away.
Lay your acrylic piece on a non stick craft surface or several sheets of scratch paper since the alcohol ink will stain anything it touches....good on crafts, not so good on clothes!  :)  Drop several drops of the color you ultimately want on the outer edge in the center of the flower.
Next drop the center color (pool in my example) right on top of the first color in the middle of the shape.  It will magically "push" the plum color towards the outside.
I used a pencil to pull the plum color to the outer edges.  You must let the alcohol ink totally dry.  Once dry, I turned the shape over and outlined the flower with purple glitter glue....again, leave it to dry...RESIST touching the glitter glue!
Once the glitter was dry, I filled the inner flower with crystal effects to the level of the glitter glue.  Again, this is a test in patience....let it DRY completely.
The end result is a custom colored acrylic hang tag that could be attached to a mini album, a gift bag, made into a key chain, or in this case a backpack zipper charm for my purple and blue loving little girl!  Thanks so much for stopping by!
