Blinged out Bookmark

Hey everyone! It's Melissa here and I wanted to share a different way to use your bling, aside from on paper! I was recently inspired by some bookmarks I recently found in a Country Living magazine and wanted to create my own, with, of course, some handy dandy bling. :)

So I have an excess stash of these little acrylic tags and thought I could stamp a sentiment right behind them on some patterned paper for a pretty focal point to my bookmark. The bling from Want 2 Scrap adhered soooo beautifully right to the top of the acrylic, and let me tell you, they are not budging!

So pretty right?? :)

It may be painfully obvious how we apply our bling to items, but I just wanted to share a bit of the method to my madness. :)

First off, a picture of the bling I used, a package of the Pink Rhinestones, Silver Rhinestones, and my already finished tag ready for embellishing.

And as you can see here, I never even touch the bling with my fingers at all. I use a "Quicker Poker Picker Upper" by QuicKutz to pick up my bling off from the adhered sheet and then apply it directly to my desired location. I like to do this, first off, so I don't get the adhesive untacked from any dirt or crafty sediment already attached to my fingers :) and so that that adhesive stays perfectly intact to the bling. Works just perfectly!

And voila, you are all done! Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this little bit of information. :) Remember, you can always add bling to your 3d projects for added sparkle!

Nestabling in the Negative

Interesting title, I know, right? Well, I wanted to try the new Nestabling in a new and different way and thought about how cool it would look if I die cut with my Spellbinders die and THEN placed the bling inside the negative image. Well, it worked just beautifully!!

Check it out!

Here, I took a card front and then die cut the Scalloped Heart Spellbinder's die. I added some dimension with this top layer and then placed the Nestabling Scalloped Hearts right inside the die cut on my card front. It worked just beautifully!! I was positively thrilled and I just adore the look that it gives.

Have you had a chance to order your Nestabling yet? Remember, it is now available for order and begins shipping in a few short days...April 11!!!

Hope you enjoy it and thanks so much for your visit!

Nestabling in action!

Hey everyone! I hope you have been just as thrilled as we are about the all new Nestablings!! I tell ya, I've been a long time fan of Nestabilities and when I found out there was going to be coordinating bling patterns, I was over the moon with excitement!! I already have a nice little collection of Nestabilities of my own, so when I got my shipment of bling I got to play right away.

I used the Nestabling that coordinates with the Spellbinder's Labels One dies and made my card using 3 of the dies. I used the largest die as my card and the 2nd largest as my mat. The bling coordinated perfectly with my 2nd layer, so I just placed it perfectly on top...easy peasy! I also used a portion of the Black Finesse Swirls as an accent on my top panel.

And before I go, I wanted to show you quickly how those lovely chipboard swirls that I used on the Cupcake album cover look when you buy them and how I quickly changed their appearance with a quick coat of acrylic paint.

Just use a foam brush and the acrylic color of your choosing and coat!! To distress, you can always take a file and distress the edges for a pretty aged look. :) I also like to cover with glitter!

Soooo excited about the possibilities here and I'm off to play some more! Hope you are able to get your hands on some soon!

Cupcake Album Cover

Hey everyone! I'm so excited to be sharing with you a new chipboard album that I discovered at the Want2Scrap booth a few months ago and have finally had the chance to play with....meet the Cupcake Chipboard album!!

Ack! I just absolutely adore this album! Now, this is just the cover of the album...I plan on finishing out the inside pages and sharing with you in upcoming posts. :) I used quite a bit of Want2Scrap products here....of course some bling...but can you notice something else chipboardy here?

Mmmm...some new assortments of Chipboard flourishes. I simply sugared it up and layered it on top of some bling flourish that I cut from this little number HERE. I think they make such a beautiful pair together and you will probably see this again! :)

And can you believe that I snagged some of this lovely crochet trim from Want2Scrap as well? They seriously do carry everything for your scrappin' needs! Now, I need to get cracking on the inner pages...I'm so excited to play more with this...and there are more little cute items to show that are included in the book!

I got started straight away on a new "BOO" banner to hang in the house...perfect for getting us ready for the thrills and chills of Halloween.

Lucky for me, I also had some wonderful Black rhinestone swirls on hand to help me out in my production. :)

And with only 3 little letters to make, I was quickly done! How about you? Do you enjoy making little home-made seasonal decor for your home? I liked so much that this was quick and easy and I love that adding such gorgeous bling is quick and easy as well and adds such an elegant touch. :)

For You

Hi everyone! I am back again to show off a couple more products Want 2 Scrap carries that I just LOVE having in my crafting arsenal. I don't know how often I turn to using chipboard and bling on my projects, but it is a LOT! Usually I "sugar" up my chipboard with glitter or cover with patterned paper, but this time I thought I'd do something different for a change!

Can you tell what I did? Well, first of all, I used the chipboard hearts...and you get MANY to a pack in both small and large sizes. I used the large size for this project. I first painted it over with regular acrylic paint. After I let that dry, I spritzed the top with a tan colored glimmer mist for a little sparkle. And after that dried, I stamped some French script right on top with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. LOVE the way that turned out. I also used some leftover bling from my Silver Rhinestone Swirls right on top of my burlap leaves. They stick wonderfully!

So are you a bling and chipboard kind of gal/guy too? If so, definitely check out the online store for great deals on your favorite products!

Until next time!

Wish Big

Hey everyone! Today I'm sharing a Clean and Simple card, but dressed up with some bling! I followed Dana's que and decided to make a gorgeous flower as well. And to accent the pretty flower, I used Want 2 Scrap's Swirls in Silver Rhinestones!

I think they make such a lovely pair, don't you? :) This was so quick to put together, and I love the way the rhinestones laid themselves out perfectly on my card. Be sure and check out the Want 2 Scrap webstore for even more bling products! You just can't beat the price point AND selection!

Until next time...

A Wall Hanging for Me!

Hey all! It's Melissa again to show you another project using an acrylic heart from the heart album to make a pretty wall hanging. :) I also have some tips to offer on how to offset the size of a shape very simply with a ruler and pencil!

First off...I've been wanting to make a little something special for me to hang in my craft room. My room is a complete organized MESS, lol! So I've been wanting to use the phrase, "creative people are seldom tidy".....so true in my case!

I used one of the chipboard hearts in the center of my project and decorated it up with some patterned paper, glitter, and some trendy rolled flowers. :)

So here are some tips on how to create your offset heart shape by using your acrylic heart as a template....
First, you'll start by drawing the outline of your shape on the BACK of the patterned paper you want your offset shape to be from.

Then, you take your ruler and decide how far you want your shape to be offset by...I chose about 3/8 of an inch.

Now, take your ruler and measure 3/8" to the inside of your shape line and make little tick marks. Just keep doing this all throughout the interior of your shape until you've gotten your desired shape completed.

Then cut along your tick marks, and voila! You have completed your offset shape to show off that acrylic base!

Don't forget to peel off the protective backing so your acrylic shows nice and shiny clear! I hope you enjoyed my tips and project! Until next time....

The Key to My Heart

Hello friends! Melissa here again to share with you the ones that hold the key to my heart....my family of course! I knew exactly how I wanted to lay out this little album, building on its pages from smallest to largest. Hold on to your hats...it's about to get picture intensive in here!

Starting from the inside cover...

My little rugrats....the ones that keep me crazy (in love) every day!

The first couple pages were covered with patterned paper and I saved the last two to really showcase the acrylic....something about having a see-through page just really makes a statement to me!

Now this is where I start having a bit of a challenge with the photography.....I need to learn to somehow get rid of the pesky bulbs and glare!

Did you happen to notice a couple pictures back, the page with the scalloped edge? I thought it would be neato to draw some interest to that by stamping within the scallops. Here's how I did it!

First, you'll want to use a nice ink, like Staz On, that dries relatively quickly and won't smear (EVER!) off your acrylic.

With this particular color, you'll need to re-ink the pad for every application. I went nuts and just spread a bunch on!

Then, you can carefully ink up your stamp and stamp to your heart's content!

You can see that I over-inked a bit, but that's ok! I like the look that turned out. If you're unhappy with your stamped results, rubbing alcohol can easily erase the staz-on right off for a do-over!

I also managed to sneak in some more fabby products from Want2Scrap...like the pearl and rhinestone bling!

Those pearls were actually white, but with an alcohol based marker, you can make them any color you want!

Oh! And the heart on the cover...that's from the heart chipboard pack!

Ahhh, I will definitely treasure this little album. My family...they hold it. :)

Thanks so much for hanging in there with me....until next time!
