Vintage Christmas Ornament -Tag

Hello again. I hope everybody is enjoying their Christmas Season with lots of family, friends, shopping and good food. We’ve had a slow start, but now in full swing with all the season has to offer. But the most important is family.

My project today is a Vintage Christmas Ornament/Tag. We have many friends that are big on wine, and get together for wine tasting. So each year we give them a bottle of wine, and I make a custom tag that fits their décor, and colors to place on the bottle. I think it’s so funny that they love seeing the different tags I’ve made for them, and look forward to receiving them more than the wine LOL!! Then use them as a Christmas decorations the following year.

I made a quick step-by-step video showing you how this lovely project was created.

Thanks for visiting today - Linda :)

Hello and thank you for joining us for the Scrap-Mart Holiday Blog Hop. Scrap-Mart has teamed up with these fabulous manufacturers to bring you a week long blog hop dedicated to Christmas-themed projects!

ant2Scrap™  >>You ARE HERE

I am back!!!It is good to be home here at Want2Scrap, I miss you all! So for my first post I decided to create something elegant, vintage and add a hint of Christmas too. So I took a picture frame I found at the dollar store and added some Eco Green Crafts, White Acrylic Paint to give it that antique feel. I cut a Crafty Secrets Creative Scraps to use as my picture and added Nestabling™ Beaded Square White Pearl to the outside of the glass.

I painted  2 Chipboard Embellishments Style D pieces with white paint and added some Beacon Adhesives Zip Dry to the top so I could put some Twinklets Diamond Dust to give them that sparkle like the first snow.

I die cut and stacked S4-223 Create A Flake Two from Spellbinders™ after I stenciled a hint of green ink to my snowflake, I added some Diamond Dust to my snow flakes as well as some Artistic Copper Wire.

I stamped my Christmas sentiment and die cut/embossed S5-031 Fancy Tags Three, air brushed through the die like a stencil and added Nestabling™ Fancy Tags Three White Pearl. To finish my vintage frame I added some rose buds and a ribbon bow. Thank you for stopping by my blog post today. Crafty Smiles!

Have a wonderful and blessed day.

Here are 12 Christmas love quotes to help us remember that December isn't just about presents and tasty treats -- it's about the heart.

1. "I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all year." ~ Charles Dickens

2. "Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most." ~ Ruth Carter Stapleton

3. "Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas." ~ Calvin Coolidge

4. "This is Christmas: not the tinsel, not the giving and receiving, not even the carols, but the humble heart that receives anew the wondrous gift, the Christ." ~ Frank McKibben

5. "Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time." ~ Laura Ingalls Wilder

6. "When we were children we were grateful to those who filled our stockings at Christmas time. Why are we not grateful to God for filling our stockings with legs?" ~ G.K. Chesterton

7. "Remember, if Christmas isn't found in your heart, you won't find it under a tree." ~ Charlotte Carpenter

8. "It is the personal thoughtfulness, the warm human awareness, the reaching out of the self to one's fellow man that makes giving worthy of the Christmas spirit." ~ Isabel Currier

9. "My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that?" ~ Bob Hope

10. "The joy of brightening other lives, bearing each others' burdens, easing other's loads and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts becomes for us the magic of Christmas." ~ W. C. Jones

11. "I am not alone at all, I thought. I was never alone at all. And that, of course, is the message of Christmas. We are never alone. Not when the night is darkest, the wind coldest, the world seemingly most indifferent. For this is still the time God chooses." ~ Taylor Caldwell

12. "Let us keep Christmas beautiful Without a thought of greed, That it might live forevermore To fill our every need, That it shall not be just a day, But last a lifetime through, The miracle of Christmastime That brings God close to you." ~ Anne Schulz

Let these words remind us of what the Christmas season is truly about. It's not gifts and parties and pretty lights. These Christmas love quotes remind us that the Christmas season is, at its core, about love.

Santa Claus is coming to town!

He's making a list,
Checking it twice,
Gonna find out who's naughty or nice.
Santa Claus is coming to town!

He sees you when you're sleeping,
He knows when you're awake.
He knows if you've been bad or good,
So be good for goodness sake!

Nestaboard and Nestabling holiday ornaments

Hey there!  I love to make handmade photo ornaments for the Christmas tree every year.  Last weekend we had our annual backyard photo session for our holiday card and I was able to capture a cute one of my girls to use on a photo ornament.  This year, I was feeling paint-y, glitter-y and purple!  In order to accomplish the many layers of paint, glitter and glue I had in mind, I needed to turn to a quality chipboard base....Want2Scrap Nestaboard to the rescue!

To accomplish the shabby look I love, I began with a layer of acrylic paint from Eco Green Crafts.

An easy way to to get a peeled paint look is to lightly press your still wet painted piece onto a non stick craft sheet and then quickly lift it back up.  Presto!  Gorgeous shabby results!

To add a little purple to the mix, I used a watered down purple acrylic paint and dry brushed from the edges of the Nestaboard Labels Nine towards the middle.  I did these paint treatments on both sides of the Nestaboard.

Once my paint layers were dry, I applied Nestabling Labels Nine Purple Rhinestone to the Nestaboard and removed the top three purple bling from the Nestabling frame to accomodate the shanked snowflake button that I planned to insert through my crop-o-dile punched hole.  In addition to the Nestabling frame, I went to town with liquid glue, chunky glitter, fabric dimensional paint and fine glitter on the front of the ornament.

As you can see in the photo above, the button shank is available on the backside of the Nestaboard and can serve as a hanger for the ornament.

Despite literally 5 different layers of wet paint and glue Nestaboard holds its shape nicely without warping!  I love that!  The ultimate opportunity to go "shabby"!

My finished ornament has lots of happy sparkle...starting with the twinkle in my girls' eyes!

Remember how I removed three purple bling from the Nestabling in the step above?  I was able to use one of those available gems to add a custom purple touch to my button snowflake using Beacon Adhesives 3in1 Advanced Craft Glue.

The frosty white frame was achieved with dimensional fabric glue in white pearl topped with micro glitter...very sparkly snow on a winter's morning.  It looks great against the purple Nestabling!

Another year of handmade photo ornaments in the books!  I love this creative tradition...I hope it inspires you to incorporate photos and Want2Scrap into your holiday art pieces as well.  Thanks ever so much for coming by today....I so appreciate it!!!
