Introducing Heidi Blankenship!

Our design team is growing again...we want to welcome the amazing and hugely talented Heidi Blankenship!

Welcome Heidi!

You will absolutely love the designs that Heidi will be sharing with us in the near future. Here are a few things Heidi shared with us about herself!

Hello, my name is Heidi Blankenship and I live in Minnesota with my husband Eric and two boys, Dusty and Evan. I have been involved with paper crafting for over twenty years. I was introduced to stamping in 1988 and, over the years, I have taught many classes at the local stamping and scrapbooking stores. I love to create a large spectrum of projects with a broad range of styles, but I lean towards the vintage, artsy style. I've been very fortunate to work with some wonderful companies in the industry. I am currently on the Spellbinders™ Blog Team, JustRite Stampers, Crafty Secrets and SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES By 3L™. I have been published in a variety of national and international magazines, catalog/idea books, newsletters, sales ads and packaging. My design work has also been featured on Scrapbooking Memories, QVC, HSN, Creative Home Arts and Create and Craft TV in the UK just to name a few. I love creating cards, altered arts, home décor, and scrapbooking— traditional and digital. In my spare time I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, photography, floral design, painting, gardening and jewelry making.

I would also like to add a special Thank You to Michele P. and Michele C. for asking me to join the Want2Scrap Design Team!! I was very lucky to meet them at CHA and they are both such wonderful ladies!! I am SO honored and excited to be part of such a wonderful and talented team and what can I say the products are Amazing!!!

I asked Heidi a few questions to get to know her better and this is what she said...

Favorite dessert? I am not big on sweets but I love cheesecake and my favorite is Chocolate Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake with fresh raspberries---Yummy!

Proudest moment? Craft related--having my first card published or seeing my artwork on TV. As far as family there are too many proud moments to count---I love all the little things and the everyday blessings of life.

If you had $100 and could not spend it on scrappy stuff, bills, and only on yourself what would you buy with it? This question made me laugh because anytime I receive a gift of money from my mom and dad, my mom always says---no craft stuff!! I would go shopping for shoes or hit up the local antique/junk shops to see if I could find any good deals.

You can also find Heidi's work on her blog here. Look at these fabulous cards, this is just a sample of Heidi's amazing talent.

More gorgeousness...

Be sure to check back on Friday when Heidi will be doing her first blog post! You won't want to miss it.

Pretty Pearly Princess

Pretty catchy title, right?! And I know you probably don't associate pearls with little princesses too terribly much, but I just LOVED this combination of the subtle sweet Pearl Swirls as part of the backdrop on this card. There is just nothing like dressing up a card with a little bling and it's soooo easy to do with these swirls. And remember, don't waste the ones that would be hidden under a panel...simply cut out the desired pieces and use the remainders for other exposed parts of your project!

Now this is a project perfect for that princess in your life. :)

Thanks so much for looking!

Warm Welcome to Elise Durenberger!!!

One of our newest Design Team members extraordinaire.  This lovely lady is so very talented and we are very pleased to welcome her to our team!

WELCOME ELISE!!!!

Elise is not only talented but her personality is HIlarious to boot! I know you will enjoy seeing her future posts and sharing her take on all things creative!
So let’s get to know Elise a little better!
elise-small
Elise has been avidly paper crafting for the past decade.  With a lifetime of creative pursuits fueling her passion, her foundation is in Fine Art.  She earned a degree in Art Studio from the University of California, Davis, and continues to paint and draw in addition to paper craft.  Completely transformed by the Blog-World, Elise's joy has been increased exponentially by participating in paper craft challenges, publication calls, design team cooperation, and friendships. All cemented from the common experience of the "Blog."
When she isn't playing with all things paper, ink and embellishments, she's joyfully married to the love of her life. Elise is always inspired and smitten by her two babies {okay, they are 9 & 13 years young - but to a mother: ALWAYS babies!} as well as her four-legged babies - horses, dogs, cat & one truly ancient cow!   Living the "ranch life" in Sonoma County, California (the culmination of her life's dream) feels pretty darn good.  Mix in paper and some bling - Life is EXCELLENT!
"I'm so honored to have the opportunity to design with products from Want2Scrap!   The name of the company says it all, but as I was discussing with a friend recently, the term "scrap" means SO much more than it used to.  I'm looking forward to adding Want2Scrap's unique and oh so creatively inspirational products into every area of my crafting!  From the bejeweled self adhesive line of pearls and rhinestones to the fantastic chipboard, acrylic albums, and die-cuts, I'm going to be ONE busy crafty chick. Fortunately, there's not much in my life that wouldn't benefit from a lil' more BLING. So I say. . .  BLING IT ONNNNN!  Yee HAW!"
Here are a few samples of Elise’s beautiful projects!!

NESTABLING.......BE MINE!!!!

Don't these Valentine's Day cards just look like you bought them from your local store??  Well guess what. . .  with the new "Nestabling" you could create these fun and blinged out cards too...just like I did.

Here's what I used to create these cards, Nestabling Labels Five, Nestabling Scalloped Hearts, Want2Scrap Clear Rhinestones, Want2Scrap Red Rhinestones, Spellbinders LF-127 Grand Scalloped Squares, S4-229 Labels Five, LF-161 Grand Labels One, S4-161 Labels Ones, Stamps are from JustRite Stampers, Adorable Dragon and Just Ducky and my favorite paper line....Abbey Road from My Minds Eye.

Here are all of the pieces cut using the Grand Calibur from Spellbinders...just look at that beautiful Nestabling Heart!!!!

I used my Copic Markers to color this adorable dragon, after I was finished coloring I took my colorless blender and dotted the dragon's skin to make it look like scales....cool right?

I added just one Want2Scrap red rhinestone to the dragons tail, after all dragons like bling too!

Love those large format die templates that Spellbinders created, they make the most wonderful card bases.

I cut out the S4-229 Labels Five die templated and using my new "Labels Five Nestabling" adding rhinestones was so simple and time saving.....thank you Michele!!!!

I added the clear rhinestones to my S4-235 Fancy Tag to add just a little splash of bling.

Thank you for stopping by my blog post, I hope you have enjoyed my handmade Valentine's Day cards and this wonderful new product..."Nestabling".

Want 2 Scrap sponsors the JUGS Challenge!

Hey everyone!! I hope you enjoyed the CHA recap post from yesterday. I heard there was a TON of excitement about the new NESTABLINGS and I'm still reading about it over on the Splitcoast forums as one of the top new items released at CHA! They really are THAT cool!

Anyway, the Just Us Girls Challenge blog is having a challenge (like they do every week :)) and this week's is sponsored by Want 2 Scrap!! Make sure an enter over on their site to be entered to win a $25 gift certificate to purchase all that new yummy Nestabling on the Want 2 Scrap website!

So this week's challenge is a sketch challenge and it looks something like this...

I decided to go with with a lovey dove card (since Valentine's is next week and all) and use some of the new Nestabling that coordinates with the Scalloped Heart Nestabilities dies.

Ooooooh.....ahhhh. See how perfectly the bling fits in those scallops! I've found some neat ways to use the heart Nestablings and I'll have to show you on a later post. :)

I had to flip the sketch to make it work with my paper, but I think that's fine! :) Now it's YOUR turn to play along! Don't forget that you're going to want to enter over on the JUGs site HERE!!

Thanks for looking!!!
